Getting Started

Greetings new user. Here we show you the basics to get a smooth start into your first discussion.

To start a discussion, look out for that grey box (when you're logged in, it's on your Home page).

Now there's 2 steps:
  1. Get some text in there (by either writing or pasting it)
  2. Hit the "Start a discussion"-button.

Now there's various things you can do. How about editing the text?

  1. Click into a line in order to edit it. Your text will be saved automatically as soon as you click on a different line or just anywhere else.
  2. In order to draw your cowriter's attention to a certain line you can highlight it with color. When you mouse over the lines, you will see a balloon appear on the right hand side. Here you find the link to change color. What the colors will mean in your collaboration process is all to your phantasy. (How about putting their meaning at the top of your text)
If you wish to have some basic formatting, you can activate Textile by adding .textile to the title of your discussion. Textile is a simple markup language that allows you to variate the font style, place lists or add URLs and images. An overview over all the syntax is to find in our Guides (which is always a good place if you have questions). There are also some explanations in our blog (1,2).

Done all that? Then it's time to share the text with others.
